New Update

Aug 25 18:12:50

I just uploaded a bunch of fixes as of 8/25 Thursday afternoon.

One of those fixes is the way profile pictures are handled internally. The old system did not refresh properly, so browsers kept using the old version in their cache. Alas a consequence of the change is that old profile pics aren't found by the new code. You need to update your profile pics. You don't need to reload your old pics; you just need to set your profile pic to the old pic. You might need to set to a different pic and then set back. I didn't do the experiment and now it is too late for me to try.

Other fixes:

  • Replies to your comments should show up on your dashboard now.
  • Picture editor has a file picker so it should now work on a tablet.
  • The layout for the picture editor uses inline blocks instead of a table, so the editor might even work for a phone. (Have not tried this!)
  • For simple tables, the separate is now set wit the sep tag. The legacy frows tag still works.
  • I have redone the QTML tutorial bigly. I took out quite a bit of my rationale for many decisions and stuck with teaching the markup language. The original Lesson 1 which used the unneeded p tags has been replaced with a lesson which plays with the heading and italics tags. Lessons on hyperlinks and pictures come next, so users get the functionality of the legacy social networks before moving onto the fancier stuff.
  • The table lesson has been broken into two lessons. The first just covers simple tables; i.e, comma separated columns and the option to use a different separator. A later lesson covers adding formatted text, equations, and pictures in tables.
  • Pictures that are inside tables and lists are now tile size -- at least in the demo.

I guess I should test if the picture shrinking works in production mode. Here goes:

I'm gonna look over your new tutorial when I get done with this Edible post. Lookin forward to it. There's still stuff I don't know. I should have the opportunity to use tables and block quotes and some other new tags here soon.
