What You May not Know About Pollyanna

Scythrop Glowry on Jan 2 17:31:23

Did you know that Pollyanna was a book? And that it had a sequel? And that that sequel was Pollyanna Grows Up? And that their authoress was Ealanor H. Porter who also wrote Just David, the Miss Billy books, and the Margaret books (as well as several other books I have not read)? This is the sparkling authoress herself, followed by specimens of her lesser known (but very entertaining) books:

Her books were written in the Edwardian and post-Edwardian eras (which I personally think was one of the very best time-frames in literature). I hope to say more on them individually later. I highly recommend all those mentioned above. I do not, however, recommend The Sunbridge Girls at Six Star Ranch. I look forward to discussing this more when I have time and someone interested.

This was news to me. I hadn't yet heard this. I was excited and glad by the new information... and your sharing of the pictures of the books front covers. Thanks so much.

I enjoyed her Pollyanna books and Just David. I'll try to read the Miss Billy books sometime.

You know what would be interesting would be a collection of neologisms. I guess "Pollyanna" was an obvious one, but it never occurred to me as I had not read any E.H. Porter.

Oh, now it makes sense. Just a little before my time it was a pretty famous Walt Disney movie.
