The American Ideal

Who We Are.

We are a lightly moderated group committed to sharing critical thinking through well thought-out posts. To achieve this, we are looking for like-minded people who share our love of The American Ideal, best expressed in the Declaration of Independence:

We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness—-That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed...

We believe these ideals are inspirational to freedom loving people everywhere. We aren't specifically conservative, libertarian, or liberal. We feel labels have been subverted and don't work to communicate our ideals well. We have members from around the world, and welcome reasoned dissent, conducted with civility and respect.

We're deeply committed to cutting through the noise and hysteria to bring back common sense in a time of outrage and intentional blindness. We stand in opposition to a corrupt authoritarian neo-aristocracy.

We are committed to 'based' virtue, bravery, truth, reason, and evidence.  The American Ideal is a place for concerned constitutionalists to have reasonable and reasoned discussion, with intellectual honesty.

'Based' means: being willing to speak your mind, state objectively true facts, being true to yourself and your values, tolerating what is done in good faith or in jest, and elevating the worthy rather than celebrating the mediocre. – James Lindsay
