The Heroine: or The Adventures of Cherubina

Scythrop Glowry on Feb 18 20:49:07

...by Eaton Standard Barret. I read the first volume of the first edtion and the next two volumes in the second edition. I don't have a whole lot to say (here) about this book since I loved it too much to spoil it for you. A satire + romance (modern definition of romance). A good old romp after the Mad Mad Mad Mad style, it has wholesome morals, riproaring comic adventures, and a page turning plot. If you like such things--read it!

It is available from google books as free pdfs in three volumes. It may also be bought online as a paperback.

(Written in Jane Austen's era.)

I can concur about how much you liked Cherubina!! I heard many of those scandalous adventures from your recall. It did sound VERY uproarious and fast moving. So glad that you enjoyed reading it.
