Colorizing the Christmas Tree

Jan 8 09:49:12

For the last few days of Christmas, we swapped out the white lights for some modern color LED lights.

With the decorative toy display gone, you can see my home made industrial strength Christmas tree holder. Overkill, but I was worried about a 14 pound cat getting into the room. The amount of rocks in the bucket is also overkill. Were I making a commercial kit, I'd have some kind of cone at the bottom of the bucket to hold the tree base and make the bucket shallower.

Using clothesline instead of bolts to hold the upper bit of tree truly rocks! You don't have to trim off bottom branches. You can use them. The use of turnbuckles for final rope tightening was disappointing, however. I think I'll get some boat cleats next year.

Hopefully I can find some better lights next year. These have a bunch of modes but most are too blinky. I hope somebody makes electronic lights that mimic the old kind which had spans of a single color which faded in and out.

I cannot complain this year. I bought these lights at Carolina Pottery after Christmas. They truly rock for keeping their leftovers available for master procrastinators like Yours Truly. Next year I'm going to check them out early to see if they sell Christmas cards. Hallmark stores are disappearing. Hobby Lobby doesn't do boxes of cards. Staples has awful "holiday" cards.

Fun!! Mom and I really enjoyed your display! We were amused by the history of these lights! 🎄
